The weather here in New England has cooled down and it got me thinking about blazers—plaid, dark olive, jewel tones, houndstooth and oversized—all that elevate a fall look. I love that a blazer is kind of fool proof and more like a great accessory. You can wear it with your favorite pair of denim, add a plain t-shirt or camisole underneath it, and you have a chic foolproof look. The thing about a blazer is that it has to fit right. The sleeves have to hit right before the wrist and it can't be too big or too tight on the boobs and upper back (I've been there before). I prefer to shop for a blazer in person to see how it fits, but if you do shop online, I recommend ordering two sizes. If it's oversized, you may want to order a size down as well.
Here are some of my favorite blazers right now:
- I love a solid colored blazer that is a wardrobe builder and a timeless piece for your closet. I have an old black blazer from Zara that I wear a lot, but I'm eyeing camel and army colors to add to my fall wardrobe. I love the color on this one by Bailey 44, the button detail and how it can work for date night to work dinners. I'm on the hunt for a perfect camel colored blazer and this one may be it.
- This is the season for plaid and checked blazers. I love the more neutral ones that work well with everything and don't go out of style. Love this one and this one, which is more affordable and oversized.
- Instead of velvet, which I feel was really hot the past two years, I'm all about corduroy in rich jewel tones. I always hit & Other Stories when I go back to New York City and I see they have this one in two colors that look super chic. Great for an evening cocktail party!
- Again, all about a timeless classic piece that you can wear multiple times and to many different venues. Love the fit on this one and the texture at a great price.
- I'm all about a houndstooth blazer, but it can't look old fashion. This one has a gorgeous cut and pretty colors to liven up a fall wardrobe.
