Fall Trip to New York City

After spending the weekend in New York City I thought it would be good to share some of my favorites with you all. I always try to squeeze in a trip back to the city and cram in so much (lots of shopping, eating and walking around). Even though, I've been living in Rhode Island for eight years (wow that is crazy to say) I'll always be a New Yorker. I take these little trips back to New York City often to see wonderful city friends, family or girlfriends from home or college. New York is always the best meeting place, and it's only three and a half hours away from Providence, so it's perfect for a quick trip.

For this weekend trip, I ended up staying at a lovely suite at the newly revamped Gansevoort Hotel in the Meatpacking District. I used to live so close to The Gansevoort and would take a workout class in the fitness center a couple of times a week back in the day. This time, it feels fun to be back as a hotel guest. It was the perfect location for shopping, eating and doing a little sightseeing all by foot.

My friend made a reservation at Nat's on Bank for a late lunch and we both loved it. The vibe was so cute and it had the best bathroom equipped with a disco ball. The cocktails looked amazing, but I held off as we had a long night ahead. Definitely make a reservation as it's a small restaurant.

pastisnyc

We ended up snagging a reservation at one of my favorite spots, Pastis. Always consistenly good and great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I always go back with my kids, too.

A newish spot that I wish I knew about before I arrived to the city is Bangkok Supper Club, which looked super chic and tasty. It happens to be a hotspot perfect for a fun night out so book in advance.

Other downtown faves: Cafe Cluny, new spot for pizza, L'Industrie, Buvette for breakfast or brunch, Saint Theo's for a drink and nibble at the bar.

In addition, to eating, my friends and I did lots of strolling and shopping as you do when back in New York City. I always love Bleecker Street shops in the west village and brings back such good memories. For this trip, I stopped in favorites such as Maje, Sandro and Ba&sh; Anine Bing (obsessed with one of her coats here), Cynthia Rowley and a few others. In the meatpacking, I always go back to Vince and Theory.
