I try and wear lots of prints during the summertime here in New England, but I always come back to a great black dress. Summery black dresses are my favorite—you can add a great woven bag or clutch and some chic accessories to finish the look. I tend to love cotton poplin dresses as they keep you cool and always better to wear them at night (nothing worse then blazing in the sunshine in all black).
I bought this one shoulder black dress before a trip to Marco Island, Florida and let's just say it is one of my favorite buys for summer. Under $200, it's chic and playful and works for city trips as well as coastal cocktails. Another, favorite black dress that I got last year is a fun sleeveless option by Kate Leigh. It has a pretty gold stripe and works great for dressy to more casual events.
